CGMA Gas Separation Equipment Branch Visits PHOHOM, Focusing on Domestic Progress of Aluminum-Steel Cryogeinic Joints
On June 11, Jiang Ming, Vice President of the China General Machinery Industry Association (CGMA) and Chairman of the Gas Separation Equipment Branch, together with Zhou Zhiyong, a member of the Branch’s Expert Committee, visited Hunan Phohom New Materials Technology Co., Ltd.’s Liuyang Industrial Park to inspect the company’s self-developed aluminum-steel cryogenic joints and its applications of dissimilar metal joining technologies. The visit aimed to gain an in-depth understanding of the technological breakthroughs and industrialization progress of domestically produced key components, and to promote the self-reliance and controlled accessibility of core parts for cryogenic equipment from a strategic industry perspective.
The CGMA Gas Separation Equipment Branch is a key industry organization in the field of gas separation and cryogenic equipment in China, with a long-term focus on industry technological advancement and supply chain coordination. In areas such as air separation, LNG, and cryogenic storage and transportation, aluminum-steel cryogenic joints serve as critical connecting components. In the past, they relied heavily on imports, which came with significant issues including high prices, long delivery lead times, and slow after-sales service responses. To address these points, Phohom New Materials has developed mature production and inspection processes through dedicated R&D efforts, with key performance indicators of its products reaching the level of similar imported products. To date, these products have been deployed in multiple projects both domestically and internationally, operating stably and earning user recognition.
During the visit, the association’s experts toured the production and inspection facilities, gaining detailed insights into the manufacturing processes and quality control systems for aluminum-steel cryogenic joints. They also visited the company’s production lines for clad plates, clad tube sheets, clad thin strips, clad tubes, and heavy equipment, acquiring a more intuitive understanding of Phohom New Materials’ overall technical capabilities and production strength in the field of dissimilar metal joining.
This visit served both as an exchange of technical knowledge and a showcase of achievements, as well as a deep engagement between the industry and the association. Taking this opportunity, and with the guidance and support of the Gas Separation Equipment Branch, Phohom New Materials will continue to advance technological upgrades and industry standard development for critical cryogenic joining materials. Through domestic substitution, the company aims to contribute to the high-quality development of China’s high-end equipment manufacturing industry and consistently deliver “Phohom strength” toward achieving self-reliance in core critical technologies.
